Greetings, folks. I recently purchased a new dv7t-3000. I replaced the internal hard drive with an Intel X-25M 160GB SSD and re-installed Windows 7.
I'm writing because I'm hearing an annoying noise coming from the subwoofer. It sounds like induced RF noise. I hear the noise regardless of whether the speakers are muted or not. I've also disabled or muted all the audio recording devices, but no change.
It basically sounds like radio frequency noise, probably induced from some other component in the laptop whose leads run close to or over the speaker wire for the subwoofer.
Is anyone else experiencing this? It's loud enough that I can hear it while sitting in a quiet room with the laptop on my lap.
Thanks.

Did you install the IDT Audio drivers yet? You can download them here: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=404164 Just search for IDT High Definition Audio Codec.

Yes, in fact I installed all my drivers from that very page.

really?
it could be a hardware problem then. Try calling HP CS -
Haven't called HP yet, I suspect there is little they can do.
I attempted to move the SSD drive to the other drive bay, hoping that moving it would eliminate it as a potential source of RF noise. However, due to the extraordinarily limited BIOS options in this laptop, I am not able to get the machine to boot from the other SATA interface. There appears to be no way to select an alternate boot drive.
I'm surprised at the locked-down nature of the BIOS on this laptop. -

I am still trying even to get anybody at HP to verify the issue. Very very frustrating. Looks like there are no actual engineers working on customer issues at HP anymore - just customer service people. Very very frustrating.Click to expand...
I searched net for the solution, some said that by using rmclock we can remove that sound but there is no rmclock for core i7 processor yet released.Click to expand... -
RMClock is no longer in development unfortunately.

I never found a solution, and I haven't bothered to contact HP, too busy. I'm just "living with it".
