Every other laptop I've ever used, middle clicking is done by clicking both the left and right buttons on the touchpad... EXCEPT THE DV7! What gives?! How have you guys got around this?

Is it not an option to turn on/off and or adjust in the Synaptics driver software in your system?

There isn't an option in the driver software. A friend of mine bought a dv5t and middle clicking isn't an option on his either.

I made it so that if I tap the upper left corner of the track pad it will "middle click"

It's not a function on the dv7z, either. Though, to be honest, it hasn't been a feature on any laptop I've had.

Hmm, I wish Synaptics would enable that feature for all OEM customers.... they seem to only do it for Dell, mostly. There's simply one registry key that needs to be set to enable it: "HasBothButtonFeature" (yes, 'button' is singular) -- but I'm not sure exactly where it goes.
Look under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Synaptics\SynTP\Defaults\ -- try creating the key as a DWORD there, and set the value to 1.
