hey guys just ordered my dv7t quad edition laptop, just waiting for it to be sent. Since this is my first laptop i have a few questions.
1. can i plug in my speakers and subwoofer from my desktop into my laptop.
2. how difficult is it to upgrade the video card in a notebook.
3. how difficult is it to upgrade to bluray with a notebook.
4. How is this thing at running games, and at what temperature should i stop to avoid over heating.

HI and congrats on your purchase, I'll try and answer these the best I can.
1. Of course you can, just plug them into the headphone jack.
2. Very, I don't think you can, but the GT 230m is fine, remember this is not a gaming laptop.
3. That shouldn't be that hard, search eBay for a drive then pop it out then pop the new one in.
4. I played Crysis at Medium settings and it got warm but NOT HOT. Very good performance ON MEDIUMI am not complaining at all.

^ everything he said in addition:
when you plan on gaming, just ensure the notebook is on a flat desk and prop the rear of the unit up about .5 inches off the desk. you can do this with post it note pads or something of similar thickness. this ensures the unit gets proper heating...
i am so tired from hearing 'my laptop overheated and died!' and when i ask the person what they were doing, they had the unit on their bed all day long or they were gaming on their bed with a pillow under their laptop, etc etc etc.
download hwmonitor here - http://www.cpuid.com/hwmonitor.php so you can track the temps on your unit. several people have posted idling temp screenshots of hwmonitor so refer to those to see if your numbers are within reason and the range of what others are seeing.
an once of prevention is worth a pound of cure. and enjoy your notebook
