A few random questions about the dv7t unit on sale now.

Whats 160gb SSD is an option on this model?

Anyone find benchmarks on the 6770 graphics card?

Im assuming it only has 2 memory sockets correct?

If you only get one drive does it come with the bracket for the 2nd drive or do you have to hunt in spare parts for that to add one.

Worth it to upgrade to the 2.2ghz CPU?

Anyone have a take on the screen quality? How was the 1600x900 screen on the previous generation? likely its the same screen?

What a pain thinking of buying something sight unseen with no reviews lol.

How was the heat on the last generation? wondering how it will be on this one.

    Thanks,

    1. I don't know.
    2. The only benchmarks I've found for 6770m and 6850m are in Apples and/or with DDR3 instead of GDDR5. 6770m should be a good step up from 5770. It's supposed to do 696 gigaflops, compared with 520 for the 5770m.
    3. That's my assumption. Coming with 6gb standard now, I can't see ever needing to change it.
    4. I'd gladly pay $10 for the 2720qm over the 2630, maybe even $20. Never $150, or even 70% of $150. The 2630 is the fastest component in the system by far, slightly faster than last year's top i7-940xm.
    5. Lots of computers are described as having "17.3 inch diagonal HD+ HP BrightView LED Display (1600 x 900)" including G7t/G72.
If it's the same one as my G72, it has OK brightness and color, unimpressive contrast, and barely acceptable viewing angle for one person. My 24" Samsung desktop display (not LED) is in an entirely different league. I watched a movie on the G72 yesterday, and it was tolerable, but not something I'd do if my desktop is available for the task.

It is pretty hard to justify the 2820... but the 2720 is certainly the sweet spot. YES, the bulk price difference is only ~$60 and that means ~$90 profit for HP, but IF you decide later, the 2630 has basically a ZERO resale value being at the lowest rung of the series
