It's been a mystery to me, I have a window 7 dv7t, and I usually put it to sleep when I am not using it. I am using it as a desktop replacement, so it always uses AC power, and the lid is closed all the time and has external monitor, keyboard ,mouse and speaker connected. I wake up the laptop by shaking the mouse or hit the keyboard, but many times I noticed when the refrigerator stops running after running for a while(notice it by hearing the sudden sound) and the laptop wakes up automatically(I can see the hp logo lighting up and hearing the fan start to run), but the monitor is not turned on as it should be when the laptop is waked up by shaking the mouse, I was wondering if it is because of the power surge? I tried to unplug the power cord and let the laptop to run on battery, but this still happens, maybe it is because the usb devices and speaker still connected?

Try removing all the external peripheral and retest.

Is the fridge and laptop on the same power board?

seems that after removing all the peripherals, the problem goes away.

The laptop and the fridge are not in the same board. but they are in the same room. Does this really have something to do with the power surge? or this could be considered a defect of the laptop motherboard?
