I have a friend that is having an issue with a dv7t-7000, and I'm trying to get it up and running again. I think it may be an issue with the mSSD, but I wanted to make sure before I pulled the whole things apart and install a new one.

Windows loads with a "Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer" error. It then attempts to load the startup repair tool, which quickly fails to a similar error message. Placing the Windows 7 install disk in the machine, it will boot up, but not find the installation of Windows 7 to repair. I've tested the primary 1tb hard disk and it seems to be fine. I've taken a clone of it via Clonezilla. I've noticed that neither Clonezilla nor a live Ubuntu disk will mount the mSSD. Running a test of the SSD with the disk utility in Ubuntu doesn't show any errors, however.

    Any suggestions on next steps?
