what do you mean it doesn't work? does it register as f1-f12 or do those keys not work period?

does fn + space and fn + b work?

you do not need any special drivers for them to work, the quicklaunch is just there to add a GUI to the actual keys, not to give them their function.

for instance when i push fn+ F12 it should toggle my wireless on and off, before the recovery, it would toggle it, and after the recovery it doesnt, fn+ ff2 or f3 is brightness dim or brighten, that doesnt work either

fn+ b shows the beats symbol then vanishes

and it registers the keys, for some reason fn+ f3 which is increase brightness, now opens a search window

did you try just pushing the buttons without FN to see if they work?

i think you just have action keys enabled in bios. change that in bios to disabled and see if it works.

On the newer dv6-6000 and dv7-6000 models (maybe a few others as well, though I can only speak from I have seen off-hand), HP elected reverse the way the function/media keys work. In the past, the media keys were enabled by pressing both the "FN" and appropriate function key. Now all you have to do, is simply press the function key. One keystroke should toggle your LAN device on/off. Same for volume, brightness and media tracking. Though, if you are using the function keys for example, during boot to go into safe mode or using recovery options, then you only need to hit the one key there as well. No need to hit "FN" and f8 together to open your recovery console during boot. Just the one key.

Though to note: you do need to install the HP Wireless assisstant in addition to the correct LAN driver in order for the unit to recognize that the f12 key is the one designated as the on/off switch. HP wireless assisstant may also need to be installed in order for the bluetooth module to function as well - though I am not 100% certain on that.

it comes with fn lock on, you can change it from the BIOS screen.
