the backlight of my dv8000 is always off and the screen is extremely faint from boot up to entering windows. Tried different ways inc unplug the power supply/battery and VGA to another screen works perfect.

The lid switch is not responding no matter how hard I press. The switch is embedded on the keyboard PCB and there is no way I can shut it off unless I unplug the keyboard. By that way I can't switch on my laptop. I was thinking of unplugging the keyboard cable while the power is on but it seems a little bit dangerous.

I am thinking of 3 possible cases:
    1) damaged lcd inverter
    2) damaged backlight
    3) damaged lid switch

I have ordered an inverter from ebay to try to work it out. Anyone got better suggestions?
