Howdy...
For anyone interested, the HP dv8000 laptop was just reviewed on the video podcast:
http://www.neo-fight.tv
It's not your normal sort of review, but more of a 'usability' test from folks a little less geeky than your normal 'pcmag' reviewers...

Thanks for sharing the video review! I liked how when the guy and lady were debating about the laptop and how the lady always came back with a better counter-arguement. Heh.
I noticed them talking about how the DV8000 is not a gaming laptop, yes it is true, but it still plays todays games just fine. My friend who currently owns the DV8000T version with the nVidia 7400 Go GPU is able to play games such as Oblivion and Doom 3 at Medium to Medium-High settings, and Battle For Middle Earth II at High settings and looks great. -
^^I would definitely agree with A.J.'s asessment of the 7400 Go. By no means is it a barn burner, but it plays games more than adequately. Even at my native res 1680x1050 I can play HL2 Episode One maxed out without AA and HDR, and it looks fantastic at a constant 40-50ps. I can max out draw distance on GTAIII and it plays without a hiccup at about the same fps. All the games I enjoy play pretty well, which is partly why I'm not lamenting the release of the 7600 Go that much.
As a matter of fact there is not one game that hasn't run capably yet on my 7400... although admittedly I haven't yet tried Oblivion or FEAR -

I hate to be the downer here, but that podcast is incredibly boring. The guy in the podcast really brings down the entire thing. He is incredibly boring, doesn't really seem to know what he is talking about, and has some pronounciation problems. He can't even pronounce "technologically" correctly.
They both try to be far too professional when it's glaringly obvious that they'e complete amateurs. They sound completely strained when they're reading lines.. it's just terrible.
He also complains about the lack of a TV tuner in the laptop, but he completely neglects the fact that HP sells an ExpressCard 54 TV tuner that slides right into the side of the laptop that completely intergrates into Windows MCE 2005 and comes with the MCE remote that can control satellite/cable TV boxes.
It's honestly so boring that I can't even finish watching it. -
I would have to agree...completely boring.. DO NOT watch this video... and the guy's a total dork!

I think I'll work that suggestion into the show
By the way, starting on July 10th, the show will move to a DAILY format... I'm probably crazy, but hey...gotta try it...
