This might sound kind of stupid, but I was looking at this laptop and it comes out to $1049.99 with the student discount. I was wondering if I can apply the $250 off coupon code on top of this price. Anyone knows?

I'm pretty sure you can't use the student discount and the $250 off at the same time. Configure it without the student discount and use the coupon... it'll probably be cheaper like that. I made one last night with the student discount and it was only like $60 cheaper than it would have been normally. The $250 really helps. I suppose the student discount is the way to go if you don't meet the price requirements for the $200-$250 coupons.

I'm still undecided about what configuration I want, but I've been tinkering with the dv5000... I should be paying a little over $800 when its all said and done.

    EDIT: Here are the specs:

    HP dv5000t ($1,034.99 - $200 = $834.99)

    Windows XP Media Center
    Intel(R) Core(TM) Duo processor T2400 (1.83 GHz)
    15.4" WXGA BrightView Widescreen

I confirmed with sales that you cannot combine the education discount and the $250 off coupon. So best bet is using the $250 off coupon, which the salesman agreed would be a better deal. What I will be doing to save some money on tax is buying my laptop with the $250 coupon, and then logging in with my education account and puchasing the warranty seperately so I get the discount which would cover the taxes that would have been paid on it(~7% on 185 is worth saving to me).

Go with the 5000t. Lugging a dv8000t to and from class along with books is not fun.

i used the $250 coupon without the student discount and the HP site took away the $150 instant savings since the $250 off was greater than the $150. So the $250 coupon cant be combined with the student discount OR the $150 instant savings so it doesnt really do much.
