Just got my dv8000t yesterday. The UltraBright screen is very good, but the keyboard does seem to be flimsy to me. However, the thing that is concerning me now is I have been using BootIt NG on my hard drive as an imaging and partitioning program with an external USB enclosure and HDD. However, Bootit does not write images at USB 2.0 speed with this new laptop. With my old Gateway listed in signature all works well. Anyone else had any USB 2.0 problems with this machine and if so, any solutions and thanks.

Sorry to push to top but if anyone does know of any solution for what I have described would love to hear it. The screen is fantastic which is what I want but the Bios support for USB 2.0 devices is absent from what I see. Thanks again.

Hmm...I use an external HD a lot and have never had an issue with USB 2.0 Not sure what could be causing that.

I don't know either but I have tried a couple of different enclosures and the USB support is flakey at best. Will be sending mine back tomorrow although I love the screen. Maybe I might try the nx9420 on the business side although the screen will not be as bright but I think USB support might be better.

    Thanks.

I have the dv5030us. It's AMD based. But I've had USB 2.0 problems as well. I think everyone here is well aware of my USB problems ;) I'll be making a call to HP here in a minute to try, again, to get a new case manager.

can anyone else add anything to this thread that may help regarding USB 2.0 support on the dv8000t outside of Windws. See top post in thread. I am not talking about within Windows but outside of Windows where programs like Bootit NG run either from the Hard drive or from the CD. With it, I use a usb 2.0 2.5 HDD enclosre to back up my laptop HDD but no USB 2.0 support and no Bios setting to help so onl6y 1.1 speed when using outside of Windows. Just wanted to ask again and thanks.

I used Barts PE (CD based with Ghost) on my 8000z and imaged without a problem.
