With the introduction of dv9000t, one would expect dv8000t prices to be lowered. We also expected dv9000t to replace the existing dv8000t price tag. Isn't dv8000t expected to be phased out ? So, why is it still priced high ?

Well, since C1D (dv8000t in HP's case) is generally expected to be phased out, one would expect the price to be VERY VERY low. But that is not seen for now. Perhaps it might take a while before dv9000t takes dv8000t price tag.

That's what I figured he meant, but looking at the bottom of this page:
    http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2808&p=2

shows that intel is still shipping a large number of yonah processors. And if you think about it, whenever HP runs out or intel discontinues them, they'll just use the merom instead.

The dv8000t is still a few hundred cheaper than the dv9000t. If HP stuck the merom in the 8000t, I'd probably go for it and take the chance on the keyboard problems.
