So my card reader on my dv8000t is having some trouble with certain kinds of SD cards, and I'm sure it's a software problem. (Could more specifically be a vista problem)

    Here's the facts:

I used XP and the card reader without incident for a year or so, with a large variety of SD and XD cards. (Was living with many roomates and my laptop was the communal archive of everyone's photos.)

Now, I've had some problems reading certain SD cards on Vista (but I'm not sure if it's a vista problem because I didn't use these specific cards, many of which are newer, on XP)

What I mean by "unable to read" is that Vista notices there is a card in the drive but cannot list files, it suggests I format, which fails when I try it.

And I am certain that it's a software problem because I can read ALL of the cards when booting to a ubuntu live cd.

Cards that work: 128MB Sandisk, 1GB Kingston, different label 1GB Kingston

Cards that don't work (in Vista but DO work in ubuntu): 2GB Sandisk, 1GB Sandisk microSD in SD adapter, 1GB Kingston microSD in SD adapter

Anyone have ideas about how to get windows to recognize all the cards?

***I have tried both driver sp35308 (which is on HPs site for dv8000t) and sp36073 (which is for dv8300 BUT I find it when I search for EX177AV.) I ordered a customized dv8000t and on the sticker it says both dv8000 and EX177AV.
