nope downloaded it 3x (2 previously and now once through your link. "keep getting nvidia setup cannot locate any hardware compatable with your driver. setup will now close "

We need to check your 230m hardware id, to see if it is different to mine, as the video driver checks this when it install and if it does not find a compatible device id, it will not install.

In the nvidia directory the .inf file contain the device id`s of the supported gpu`s , the nvhm.inf file , my DEV_0A28&SUBSYS_363E103C is there , but not your DEV_0A28&SUBSYS_ 7001103C , specifically the highlighted part.

I think we should get this thread moved to the graphics section, maybe somebody might have a fix there.

EDIT : have you tried to manually install the video driver with the have disk method.

Check my driver thread (see sig) -- some dv8 models have a subvendor ID that is not compatible with the current v195.62 drivers provided by NVIDIA. As others have said, you will either need to modify the INF or use the drivers currently provided by HP. The ones provided by HP are available below:

    Version 186.44 - ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp45001-45500/sp45017.exe

dude install the last driver that installed properly then
    reboot properly

    run uninstall and then..

perhaps run CC cleaner/ driver cleaner

    and then reboot

and make sure your Hardware is being picked up for installation, which is when you initate drivers installation
