    Hi,
I have a very interesting problem.
    I have a dv8t-quad.
no, it doesnot have warranty anymore, because I opened it many times.

    here is the problem/
when i plug in my charger with the battery, it works,
when i have only battery, it doesn't work.
when i have only charger, it doesn't work; but if i have battery plugged in when booting, i can take my battery out, and it will continue to work.
when i have battery and charger plugged in, no indicator light works, neither the a/c input nor the indicator next to hdd indicator.
    however,computer functions normally.
this happened completely by itself; the jack and charger work, i tried with other computer and charger.

    what i tried:
i tried to 30sec without battery etc, the computer doesnot boot on battery or ac power; i have to have them both...

    what do you guys think?
should i just disassemble the whole thing and see if any of the components is firing a electrical problem?

    thanks.

    oz

can anyone help me here? I checked the motherboard connections and everything , and it seems to be fine,
the computer does not boot on battery or ac alone, it boots when together and when battery is removed it continues to function.
should i be fine, when the battery eventually loses the charge left on it?
any advice to get it repaired except HP?

It sounds like a mobo issue.

Try: battery out, AC out, hold down the power button for 30 secs. Then see if it will boot on batt alone.

You could try asking in the DV8 owner's lounge.

Otherwise, you'll have to send it in to HP.
