I have a dv9000 and i have the normal xp program. I got what i guess they call the "blue screen of death," and it forced me into having to do a system recovery. Well now my computer works fine, but I cant find any of my information or data. I know it is there though, because my C drive is sitting at the same amount of memory as it was before i did the recovery, so my stuff is on my computer somewhere, i just dont know where to find it. Can anyone help me with this?

Rule#1: You should always create another partition on the hard drive to put your data on.

Since I do that I cannot advise a course of action, besides maybe running a search on the hard drive, by date, name of file, contents...

I would think a trip to the MS website might be called for, surely they have info on "where" your data goes.

Either that or call HP, visit the HP website...

PS: Having DATA on the same partition as the OS, is like keeping pictures of your grandmother which cannot be replaced in the kitchen, and then the kitchen catches fire one day and they're gone forever.
