on the bottom of laptop is dv9820ea and in system information and in bios it list pavilion dv9700
    why 3 model numbers ?
i can understand the dv9000 being the series but dv9820ea and dv9700

Essentially, with any series HP starts off with dv9000 & works their way down to dv9100,dv9200 so on...Most of the times there is little or no change from one to another but whenever there are some changes, the model number is well...say highlighted like the dv9500. There was another change at the dv9700 so that model number was again highlighted. The dv9800 & the dv9900 are essentially the same as the dv9700 which again shares either some hardware or chassis features with models it succeeded.
