I just replaced the 2 1Gb Memory Modules in my dv9000 with 2 2Gb Memory Modules. The BIOS I have is F.2B dated 1/28/2008 which is the latest version that I can see on the HP website.

Since I am using Windows x64, I assumed that I would be able to "see" all of the memory, however the BIOS sees it in the BIOS screen, but Vista only sees 3069Mb.

Is this normal? I know that it is for 32bit O/S's, but I thought that x64's would not have this limitation.

    THANKS

how much RAM does the BIOS see?

It might be your chipset limiting you

You have a Intel 945 chipset, which has a 32bit addressing limitation. So even if you do have a 64bit OS and 4GB of RAM, you will not be able to use more than what you see now.

Gotcha! Thanks. I thought it might be something like that.

It does seem better with 3Gb than 2Gb, makes Vista a bit "happier". I'm now running with about 50% RAM free instead of 63%.

Thanks for all of your responses.
