I have a HP dv9088ea with vista ultimate and a geforce go 7600. I currently have my laptop hooked up to my sony lcd tv (40x2000) via an HDMI cable. When on the TV the picture is cut off text due to overscan. Is there anyway i can correct this?

if i connect via VGA it is perfect!

    Thanks
    Robert

Some LCD tv's have a "computer" mode which eliminates overscan.

I see the same thing on my Samsung 720p TV and I can't find computer mode for this TV. I ended up modified the output resolution of my laptop to a higher setting and that solved the problem!! ;) The resolution setting is great for movies but sucks for other thing like Word Processing on TV. Oh well, the TV is too bright for word anyways...

I am new to the forum and saw your post.
I have a similar config'd laptop and found the VISTA 32BIT 163.69 drivers works best. There is function in the NVidia Control Panel to resize the desktop on an external display.

HD-DVD play through Quickplay to the external display is still slightly choppy.

    I hope this helps.
