    Hi. I am going to buy again a system board due to video failure. Insteed a refurbished I wanna buy a new/used board. Is it possible to replace a 434659-001 G73M system board to a 447982-001 / 447983-001 G86 one? I have a dv9019ea and I observed that theese cards have same output connectors on them. I dont know about dimensions but they look similar.

    Again? Does it mean this is not your first time?
    System board of 434659-001 G73M is for Merom Processor, 667 FSB, GPU: Geforce Go 7600
    while 447982-001 / 447983-001 G86 is for new Merom and Penryl with 800 FSB, GPU: Geforce 8600 M GS

    If you buy 447982-001 / 447983-001 G86, you also needs to buy a new processor, the old one may not work.

    I had the same problem with you before, but instead of changing the system board, I reflow the motherboard using Heat Gun and it works!
    I read somewhere that NVidia GPU problem also related to fatigue thermal solder failure, reflowing the motherboard may solve the problem.
    But after that I never use my notebook to play any intensive games.

    Here some good references that I use:
    1. an OLD IBM forum --> http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=57021

    2. a video in youtube --> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vR8L3B3eDr0

    3. HP service manual --> http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01311536.pdf

    Good luck

    The motherboard will fit BUT it is socket P meaning you would need a new CPU. Im pretty sure the heatsinks are the same. If you just want to replace your motherboard i have an extra motherboard for a dv9000 with an nvidia 7600 go and 512mb ddr2 memory on it i could sell you for cheap.
