I've not been able to find anyone with this model who has 4gb and vista with the dv9000t who has mentioned a change with BCDedit /set PAE forceenable to get more usable ram.
Before and after doing it I am left with 3069mb, no change at all. I have the most recent bios, is there something I should change in that?
    Thanks for any suggestions!

It has been documented all over. PAE does not increase the amount of available RAM in 32bit OSes. Microsoft disabled it years ago because of severe driver incompatibilities.

PAE is only useful now for the XD bit in processors, which is a security mechanism.

I did spend a fair amount of time searching prior to asking this, but only found information that seemed to indicate it should work. This is the link that seemed encouraging, and it noted that most drivers would be compatible, and I do recall some individuals posted that it worked in their situations. Others posted that it did not work and speculated that it might be a bios thing, so that's why I'm curious.

Is this page just misleading then?

    Thanks.

What kind of a guide has typos in the screen shots? I think that tells you the quality of the guide you're looking at.

The truth is that when you search for this you are finding nothing but kiddies who are just echoing something they heard from a friend who heard it from a friend who swears he saw it work once. The Internet is full of these people who have no idea what they are doing but just write whatever garbage to fill up their web sites. You see all of these results on google because of the echo chamber effect.

This quote is the most telling:
My guess is that they did this, then rebooted and saw no extra RAM, but they had already written most of the guide and figured it would be stupid if they wasted all that time writing it, only to find out it didn't work, so they posted the guide anyway.

    The bottom line is that:
    1. Most modders and tweakers have no idea what they are talking about, and constantly repeat rumors because they don't know enough about the situation to realize they are false.
    2. Under no circumstances can you use all 4GB of RAM on a 32bit Vista, period.

Thanks for the explanation, I must admit I have been a bit confused by the conflicting reports out there!
