Got a dv9000t CTO
ordered the Ultra BrightView 2 lamp 1440x900 lcd
Read almost every thread here on LCD manufacturer comparisons.
Most revolve around QDS and AUO being much better that the SEC
With a couple peeps saying the LPL was good too.
I got a CMO1704 Chi Mei LCD.
No one has had any feedback on this screen, so I was curious, did I get jobbed with the Chin Mei LCD? Is Chin Mei the only Ultra BrightViews?
Lastly, how can I determine if they sent me the Ultra(2 Lamp) vs the regular single lamp?
Contacted their support on this issue and they had no clue!
Any help appreciated.

2, I believe QDS, AUO, LPL, CMO, and SEC are the brands that provide UltraBrightview for HP, but I'm not entirely sure.
3, if you ordered UltraBrightview, rest assured they sent it to you. And aside from taking the notebook apart, I don't think there is anyway to 'confirm' you have the dual lamps. -
Umm..
On that dual lamped UltraBrightview.... You should be able to LOOK and sort of see light being emitted from both the top and the bottom... (light bleed)
(Single lamped units being lit from the bottom... )
PS: Besides that, one way to tell, if the 9000 is like the 8000.. is the top is thicker...

Well I have a CMO screen on my dv2000t and love it, for what that's worth. They're a new vendor for HP (and I believe a fairly recent panel design) so most of the threads on panel vendors took place before HP started using CMO panels. Again, I think they are very good panels... considerably brighter than the older SEC panels I've seen on display models in stores.
As for Ultra Brightview, the only way I can think of to easily tell, would be to display a fullscreen black or dark grey image and then mess around with the brightness settings on the system. You should be able to detect the light source/sources. If you can only detect a backlight at the bottom, you do NOT have Ultra Brightview. If you can detect a backlight on the top and bottom, then you do.
Hope that helps.
