I have couple of questions for hp dv9000t users about the HDMI output port. Does the HDMI port outputs video & audio when hooked up to a HDTV when playing HD/SD movies from the hard drive? Or just video? Does it affect the video quality somehow? assuming the source hd video is 720P/1080P movie when playing on a 1080P HDTV?

Well I just got my dv9000t yesterday and when I hooked up to my HDTV using the HDMI port, both video and audio were outputted. However, when I upgraded to the latest nvidia drivers from www.laptopvideo2go.com, it stopped outputting the audio. I had to revert back to HP's nvidia drivers and the audio started working again.
I believe HDMI and DVI are basically the same, quality wise, except HDMI outputs audio and DVI doesn't. Quality would be affected depending on the length and the type of HDMI cables used. I was able to have a screen resolution up to 1900x1080 on my HDTV and it looked pretty good. The only difference I see was the the laptop screen was much brighter than the HDTV.
One other note, I was getting a slightly better benchmark on 3DMark05 with the stock nvidia drivers than with the updated ones.
I hope this answers your questions. -
That's exactly what I was looking for, thanks alot for the info. Rep'd.

I don't mean to thread-hijack, but it seemed like you got your info, so I hope it's okay.
Are either of you experiencing "blinking" when outputting through HDMI? I have an HDMI>DVI cable (HDTV w/o HDMI) and occasionally, the screen will go black for a split second and then come back on. I updated to some laptopvideo2go drivers and the blinking was greatly reduced. They seem to happen when the fan starts up. Are you having any problems with the output?
I did just spend a couple of hours last night editing video with Premiere on the big screen without a single incident, but the last time I tried playing games or watching a DVD, it happened. -
I don't have a dv9000t yet, so I don't know. I hook up my dell 9400 to a HDTV through DVI-HDMI and never had the issue you're describing. May be try HP's nvidia driver and see if that helps, or just give hp tech. support a call?
