i've read a topic on this before, but i cannot find the thread..
my dv 9000t emits a high pitched noise when it is not being used with the AC plug adapter....
i read people were using rmclock to underclock it...
is there another fix than this method?
also what should be the max temperature that these chips should be ran at????

I read the same info..
If it was me, I'd contact the mfg to make them aware of the problem, plus ask them the same question so an OFFICAL fix will come about.
PS: There already might be a "patch", I think I read about a patch for Dual Core cpu's being out. -
bump...............

My dv9000t do is constantly and yes its a brand new on with a Core 2 Duo 7400.
Im having another sound problem also, intermitten sound glitches while gaming and/or streaming music on Itunes 7 from my desktop (and i got 5 Bars Wifi reception) -
There is another thread on this someone contacted HP and they told them to upgrade thier drivers -
I received my 9000t on Monday (shipped from China on Friday!) and had the exact same problem (2 GHZ Core 2, 512MB go 7600). The high-pitched noise gave me a splitting headache and the Laptop has gone back to HP.
The other problem I had with the 9000t was the 1680 screen. While the resolution is nice, the screen is not bright enough to overcome the anti-glare goo which interferes with the readability in text applicatons like Excel and Word. And decreasing the resolution to 1440 only blurred everything. HP really needs to add the Ultrabright option to the 1680 screen, or decrease the matted goo look.
I would like to try the 1440 UltraBright version because I think the 9000t has some great features, but I'm wary of the high-pitched squeal. -
I'm getting my dv9000t on the 15th. I hope I don't have these problems. Oh, and jcollector1, how did you get the Core 2 Duo 7400? I thought that the best the dv9000t came from was the Core 2 Duo 7200.

Two things you can try to fix the squel that comes from the machine. One you can go to the device manager and make all the USB ports always on. The machine turns them off and such when not being used. This worked for me. Two, you can download RMclock and tell it to always have the CPU at full power instead of downclocking it at idle. The laptop does this as a power saving function and is annoying as hell.
Here is the link to the other thread also. http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=85477&page=1
