Ok, the resolution on the dv9000t is 1440x900, I was wondering if I buy a 24" monitor, can I run the 2nd screen at 1920x1600? If I can't, I guess I don't see the point in buying a 24" since the screen estate would be the same. Thanks

I have two monitors here and I can run the second one at a different resolution. My laptop runs at 1440*900, and my second monitor at 1100*900 something. Not sure how high yours can go I'm afraid.

I'm hoping to run the 2nd one at max 1920x1600.

Bringing your laptop to a store with that display to try it out shouldnt be a problem. Gotta love laptops!
