dv9500 If one Hard Drive, can it be located in the 2nd Bay?

If you order the 9500 with only one hard drive can you put in the 2nd bay? I ask this because I have had problems with two 9500’s having over heated HD’s. I am not a tech but understand the primary HD is located just to the left of the touch pad near other heat generating components. Previously, at idle the HD in bay 1 was at least 20% hotter then the HD in Bay 2.

I realize I have had some bad luck but am willing to give it a final go as in general people are happy with the notebook and I otherwise liked it too.

Can one easily switch the HD from bay one to bay two? I do know that I will have to order brackets to hold the HD in the 2nd bay. Later, could I put a 2nd HD drive into what would otherwise have been the primary bay?

Is the HP wired to allow such a move or is there a master-slave arrangement by design that requires bay one to be primary?

Has anyone done this? Or am I just inviting problems?

My alternative, if I stay with HP is an 8710w. The 8710p options do not come configured in a manner that I desire. The 8710w is overkill for what I need and about $600 more then how I would configure the 9500.
