My new HP dv9500 was shipped from China on 6 July and arrived at Alaska, available to US Customs on 7 July (per Fedex Info). It is now experiencing a "clearance delay" for two days so far. Is this kind of delay normal? When can I expect to get it delivered?![]()

I waited 9 Business Days for a Cell Phone to be shipped from Pennsylvania to Virginia. I was quite unhappy, especially since it was 3-Day Mail.
As far as how long the custom hold up will be...well nobody can tell you for sure. Just hope it goes through soon. -
Yes it's totally normal. No different than driving into another country, sometimes you get stopped sometimes you don't and unfortunately for you it doesn't seem to be the latter.
Shouldn't take very long though. -
LOL just hope they dont consider it suspicious cuz its a shiny black with swirls and decide to blow it up and send it to you in pieces

Mine was stuck in Alaska for almost a week, it will eventually make it
-
My dv6000t is stuck there too - it departed Shanghai on the 6th but its still stuck in Alaska
Maybe H-P will issue a partial refund??

do not look for a refund

Technically, the US Customs is supposed to open and inspect every package entering the country, and also levy importation taxes on these imported goods. The reality is that they don't enforce the importation taxes on small personal things like this, and they just open packages at random. Could be yours is in the queue to be opened and inspected, or could just be holiday delays. Anyhow it's all normal, might take a week or more to clear customs so just be patient!

lupin how are u using RAID on the dv9500t? does it have that particular option or is it software based, either via an app or gentoo
-
Wow, there was a whole forum post about the last time this happened and my dv9500t is suppose to be completed and shipped in about a week so I hope that mine doesn't get stuck in customs because I'll actually get to work on my ASP.NET 2 site and everything else because my desktop is giving up on me. Well actually my desktop just needs a new HDD and more memory but I want to wait for my notebook and then I can work on it without losing internet access or anything. Well I hope yours, mine, or anyone elses doesn't get stuck for too long.
Try to get a $50 coupon because it seemed plenty of people receive that but it was like after their notebooks were stuck for like a week and I don't think a week waiting is worth only $50 bucks. Good Luck.

Also, the 6th is a Friday. Customs people probably don't work on the weekends, and they probably have a backlog from the July 4 holiday.

software RAID is built into the Linux kernel.
I set the partitions on both drives as a RAID1 mirror during the installation of the OS. Works very nicely!
Code:$ cat /proc/mdstat Personalities : [raid1] md1 : active raid1 sdb1[1] sda1[0] 40064 blocks [2/2] [UU] md2 : active raid1 sdb2[1] sda2[0] 987904 blocks [2/2] [UU] md3 : active raid1 sdb3[1] sda3[0] 78132032 blocks [2/2] [UU]
