Is it just me, or does the ExpressCard slot on the dv9500t REALLY SUCK?

First of all look at the position. Any cards or cables coming from that slot are right in the way of your mousing hand, and also impair access to the DVD drive.

Second, the mechanism that holds the inserted card into the slot REALLY SUCKS ASS. If you just barely touch or bump your inserted card, it jumps right out of the slot due to the crappy spring-loaded mechanism.

What a piece of garbage and what a disappointment. Not a bad laptop all in all, I'm glad I bought it overall. I have a few minor other complaints about it, but this ExpressCard slot design is just a horrible and pathetic afterthought. Shame on HP for pushing this crap.

That's seems odd to me. To get my remote out of the slot I have to hold onto the other side of my notebook, otherwise it just slides across my desk a few inches before the remote ejects.

my problem with it is there is a lip above it, so I have to hold the lip to eject the remote from it. Its a minor annoyance but I noticed on my buddies 2500 its on the other side and there isn't a lip and it's much easier to get to.

Hmm I haven't tried the remote yet. Don't need it for anything so it's still in the wrapper, thought about throwing it away actually.

I'll give it a try and see if it's any better. It might be the cards themselves that I tried, let me try the remote and see if that's any different...

...how exactly do you open the expresscard slot? I want to stick in my remote, and I think I've located my expresscard slot, but it is covered and I'm not sure how to open in. I have a dv2500. Thanks!

that cover is a dummy plastic cover, just push it in and it will pop out (by spring).

Then you just insert your remote into the same spot, the narrow side goes in first.

Push it until it clicks in and locks inside, to get it out, same thing, push it in and it will pop out.

Aaaah, thanks for your help! Haha, it took quite a bit of force for it to pop out, which I hadn't expected...I don't normally push on my laptop. Thanks!

For me, I notice it's pretty hard to get stuff out, mostly because of the lip. Once I push in, it comes out pretty easily though. The first time I ejected the dummy plastic, it got stuck on some metal inside, so if it's really hard to get out, that could be why. The only way to fix that was just to pull really hard, and it bent the metal out of the way :(.

PS. The remote is really cool! Great for controlling videos, music, etc... I really like how well integrated it is into the system.
