Do all dv9500t 1680x1050 screens look like you are looking thru wavy glass? Mine seems most noticable at an angle. If you look at it from an angle and move you head slightly you can see waves. I need to send this one back, but need to determine if this is characteristic of all dv9500's or just a bad screen on mine.

im pretty sure its not supposed to be like that
you should definitely get it exchanged -
I had a dv9500t and there were no waves in it. My screen was flat and crystal clear with no defects. You should call and return it and have them replace the LCD.

Not True, All HP's and the 9500t models have this small wave you are talking about. I was bothered by it too, I went to Costco and other resellers and noticed the same thing. HP is not the only one affected by this however HP is more noticable. I mainly only notice it when the notebook is off, but then again why would you be looking for this flaw when the notebook is off.

It seems to be creating eye strain for me. There is a wave to my dell (when it is off) but less pronounced. The dell is just crisper with less font jaggedness. Granted same resolution in a 15.4. Has anyone found drivers to help? I am looking for suggestions before I punt. It is almost like cleartype is off or worse.

They put the wave to it for light deflection purposes on the glossy screen. No driver can help it, as it's a physical feature of the machine. Or so I've come to believe.
Note: If you find drivers that can magically change my 7600 GS into an 8800 GTX and my Gateway GT5032 into a fully loaded HP Blackbird, please let me know.
