    Hi,

    Just got my dv9500t, and fresh from the box (with all th sh** installed - no clean install yet) these are the WEI results:

    PC = 4.2
    Memory = 3.1
    Graphics with Aero = 4.7
    Gaming Graphics = 4.9
    Primary Hard Disk = 5.0

    System config:
    Intel Core 2 Duo T5 2.2 Ghz
    Memory 2Gbs
    Gfx 8600 GS
    160Gb HDD 7200rpm
    Windows Vista Home Premium

    I know WEI is not the ultimate reference for nothing, but was surprised by the low score on the PCU and Memory, considering my system config, and other posts here of similar systems, I was expecting more than that, out of the box.

    We have an unofficial agreement here that no one ever talks about the WEI. In fact, the letters "W", "E", and "I" should never appear in the same sentence.

    Thanks Lithus for the unofficial reply to my problem...

    The problem is PC is new and is tremendously slow, which shouldnt considering the system config ...with no other reference to look at, the WEI seems to indicate a problem with the memory or PCU.

    So, based on the collective experience in this forum I thought I wouldnt be the first one with an issue like this and maybe I could get a confirmation of a problem to act upon with HP (return PC, or memories being defective) or implement a solution if any.

    So any ideas what this could be about?

    PC is really slow, LDS runs on 10 FPS which no AA or Anisotriopic filtering... weird!

    when i got my dv9500 a week ago it was so slow i thought there was something wrong with it. I really thought there was something wrong with my hardware. Before i freaked out i went ahead and did a clean install and WOW! then it felt like a new computer! the way it should be... Try a clean install, its not really that hard.

    my WEI score with 2gb is 4.8 (i have not done i clean install (that anytime upgrade disc is hard to find!))
    (this might not mean much of course since the reliability of WEI is questionable)

    "Out of the box" experience is usually bad. Clean out/uninstall any unneccesary bloatware, check Windows Update, run CCleaner and defrag hard drive.

    Also check to see what setting power setting you are on. I use "Balanced", and would guess that "Power Saver" causes decreased performance.

    Next, go to C:/Windows/Performance/WinSAT/DataStore and delete any XML files in this folder. Rerun the WEI and see if the score improves.

    wow you get the same score i do for ram and i have 4gb installed even though its 32bit (3gb tops) its still impressive to see you have the same score... wierd. Is there any logical explanation to this? aside from the fact that WEI isnt accurate.

    WEI only measures how fast the RAM is, not how much you have. Again, all you guys need to repent for using WEI wayyyyy too much.

    lithus, i know WEI is evil! lol but since its there i check it out and compare with other readers in the forum, not everyone feels like getting 3dmark.. thanks for the info though i didnt know it was based on the ram speed and not the amount which seems a little more logical, then again, its WEI.

    Not too sure about this, as my WEI score went up when upgrading from 2 to 3GB ram. In fact, I went from operating in dual-channel to single (so the WEI score should have went down instead).

    Yeah, WEI isn't a great benchmark, but that score seems very low. Download a program like CPU-Z, and look at what it says the speed of the memory is. Also, try to run a memory test (see my sig for a guide), as you might have some bad RAM. It also could have gotten lose or something, but that would be strange. I agree with your initial feelings that something is wrong there.
