hello,
not really liking the pre-installed vista. I tried to wipe out the hd and installed XP, everything was working except the GM965 driver.
1, I tried to use the latest GM965 XP driver from intel.com but it won't work. The screen goes blank, strangely the upper right corner has a bright spot.
2, tried to use latest XP driver for dv9000t (GM945) from HP (yes, 9000 not 9500t, i ain't joking!). won't even install.
3, tried to use latest Vista driver for dv9500t from HP (yes, I tried to install a Vista driver in XP when i got deseperate), same thing as #1 above.
4, tried latest 945 XP driver from intel, won't install.
5, tried latest 965 Vista driver from intel, same thing as #1 and 3 above..
so i gave up on that. Since it is such a waste for not utilizing the 1440 * 900 screen, so I was forced to go back to Vista.....![]()
Then I tried again and found something consistent:
5, install the latest 965 Vista driver from Intel. SAME THING HAPPENED as #1 and #3 above! A bright spot on upper right hand corner, everything else blank.
So my theory is intel's latest graphic driver don't work in HP notebooks. Since HP offered a self-made Vista 965 driver that worked in Vista, do you think they will be nice enough to work on one for XP?
I had an old ATI compaq IGP notebook before and they gave up supporting latest driver after it came out like 1.5 year later.... so i am skeptical about how responsible hp is gonna be.........

I looked at this thread by robvia:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=125539&page=3
and i did the same thing as he documented in his page:
http://www.nogodforme.com/HPDV6500T.htm
but still, Latest graphic driver from INTEL will not work in dv9500t. No matter it is XP or Vista. They just won't work.
I tried another scenario. I clean installed Vista. Then I update to the latest Intel Driver, but same problem. only a bright spot on upper right hand corner. Which implies, very unfortunately, everytime Intel rolls out new X3100 driver, 9500t users may have to wait till HP publish the compatible patch....
if anyone has any insight to this problem, please discuss about it. I wonder if it has to do with the 1440*900 screen? or something else.
Thanks. -
Thanks for the links they are very helpfull as I had the same problem -
This really seems to be a nasty issue. It would sound stupid but did you give a try to call the Tech Support of HP. I know they are stupid but you might give it a try...
I was planning to switch over to XP when I buy this lappy but now.. gotta wait. This thread definitely needs to be watched.. -
another dv9500t owner had similar problem, as he reported in Intel forum. He is using a 945 driver from HP.

I just hope there is a way that I can have 1440*900 resolution and playing DVD smoothly. If anyone has any other workaround please let me know, many thanks. -
hello,
the poster here shared a method that can make dv9500t display 1440*900 correctly in XP. i will try that myself soon, hopefully this workaround is only temporary.... if HP will release compatible driver.
