Warning...I am not very computer literate so please forgive me and have a laugh at my expense if this is a silly and obvious question... But I received a great mothers day gift, the dv9535us. However, we live in a rural area and dial up is all that is available out here. Does anyone know if this computer can use an air card or if there may be an adaptor for that?

    Thanks.

Nice gift. Now, do you mean a wireless card used with say Verizon? If so, you'd have to get one that fits in the ExpressCard Slot such as the Verizon Wireless V740 ExpressCard

    http://www.amazon.com/Verizon-Wireless-v740-EVDO-ExpressCard/dp/B000P9CUPY

But that'll only work so well in a rural area (faster connections in big cities are offered by Verizon) and the cost per month without an existing Verizon plan is $79.99 (ouch)

are you trying to say that you want a wireless internet connection? if so, the hp should already have built in wireless card. you just need a wireless router....though i am unsure if it is possible to use wireless internet with a dial up connection. perhaps someone else can enlighten us on that point.

Your other alternative besides Cingular, Verizon or Sprint's express slot card would be through a satellite provider like Dish networks. Your best bet would be dial up if you don't mind the slower speed otherwise go with either the wireless providers: cingular, Verizon or Sprint.

Thank you for the responses. :)
Just like you said ejl, I don't think I can do the wireless out here considering we only have dial up. We don't even have cable, only satellite out here. We do have excellent cell phone service though. I should have specified better that I was thinking of an aircard like Verizon. (See, not so knowledgeable in this area) My husband has the Verizon card for his laptop, but his wouldn't fit in this one. Then the panic set in. Thank you so much for the info Andrew. I will check out the link you included.

Oh, I didn't even think about our satellite provider. Thanks.
