my laptop just crashed after running for 2 years. it wont start/boot. LEDs are on and fan spinning but it seems to be on idle. LCD does not display a thing.
is there a problem with the bios ? how do i reflash it as there is no software on hp's website for external flashing for my model.
    please help.

    Hello and Welcome here :)

I am not familiar with this laptop, but does it make a beep/musical sound after boot? Does it make it when you turn it on?
As KLF said, there is a high chance that you have a defective GPU, in that case you must send the laptop back to HP and have it fixed, it might cost you money though...

You can replace the motherboard or try a DIY reflow which works maybe 50% of the time. Personally the time and money to do it is better suited towards a new machine.

    This.

If you need to pay for someone to replace motherboard (with a new one, or to repair the current one) the total cost is probably higher than laptops value today.

I'd save all the money for a new laptop and try the reflow in trick in the oven myself. If it goes bad, laptop was broken already.

If HP asks for more than $350 for a motherboard replacement, a new laptop is needed. No need to spend $350 on a ticking timebomb again.

If you disable the chip that produces the image, you get no image on display. Actually what has happened, GPU has now practically disabled itself.

so it seems that i have to find a replacement motherboard. i got the laptop for free 2 years ago so im not worried about this loss as much.
i'll try ordering a new motherboard if i can get it cheap. else its in the oven on this one.
    thanks guys.
