    They are, the imageshack picture is just compressed. The first image is a more accurate representation of the proportion.

    Yes, or it was taken with the monitor tilted to an angle which makes it looks like it's not as tall as it is.

    You can tell it is a dv9x00 model, because the touchpad isn't centered. All the dv9x00 are 17" screens with the touchpad towards the left side of the palm rest.
