I can't get the HL-DT-ST-DVDRAM GSA-4084N burner to write at speeds over 8x even though it is a 16x drive. I have used a couple of different dvd +r disks and none will write at 16x on this drive, but will write at 16x on my desktop computer. I mostly use Verbatum disks. Is there a firmware update for the HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4084N drive?
Is there anyone who can burn at 16x with this drive, and if you can what disks are you using?

Your right John. I assumed that I got a 16x because my laptop is fairly new. I have much older burners in my desktop that are 16x burners so I incorrectly assumed that the laptop would also be 16x at least. I just checked the stats for the dv9220us and it states that is burner is only 8x.

    Thanks for the reply.
