Need a bit of help from someone who has a nc8430. HP can not send me the replacement correct replacement drive, because I do not have the HP sticker on my drive. They have tried to run it on the computer model number, but they have sent me the wrong drive 3 times now. If you do not mind look popping out your drive to get the number for me I would be very thankful.

    thanks

    It's in the service manual:

    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsuppor...support/SupportManual/c00762017/c00762017.pdf

    8X Max DVD±RW and CD-RW Double-Layer Combo Drive (413702-001)
    4X Max DVD±RW and CD-RW Double-Layer Combo Drive (413700-001)
    24X Max DVD/CD-RW Combo Drive (413701-001)
    8X Max DVD-ROM drive (413699-001)

I have no idea which one has Lightscribe on it.

    EDIT:
My Lightscribe drive (nc8430) has the following model information:
    HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4084N

I'm guessing that it's either of the first 2 that have Lightscribe in them. I'm guessing it's the first one, since the Lightscribe has 8x Max DVD+/-RW, but I'm not 100% sure. I know this because my drive is Lightscribe, and according to my Laptop specs, under optical drive, it states "8x/4x/8x/2.4x LightScribe DVD+/-R/RW DL 24x/16x/24x CD-R/CD-RW Combo Drive"

BTW I have the nw8440, which is identical to the nc8430, but with a workstation graphics card and a WUXGA display.

my drive is a 8x, so the first one has to be the one then.

Keep in mind, I'm not 100% sure on this. Don't be surprised if your replacement doesn't have LightScribe.
