Anyone know where I can get an eSATA driver to suit HP HDX18t-1200 running Microsoft Windows 7 (there isn't one lsited on the HP website)?
I have an external HDD setup which has both USB and eSATA - works fine on USB, however, when plugged in with eSATA nothing, so I assume the driver is missing. I would prefer to use eSATA as it is faster than USB.

Check the cable, or check the enclosure plug itself. From what I know there isn't a specific driver for the eSATA port. I don't remember installing anything specific for mine, anyway.

Me neither, and i have one of the first enclosures that came with esata.

Note that esata is not so friendly like usb, sometimes my doesn't reconnect when i put laptop to sleep and wake it up and have to take the cable off and put it on again, another way that sometimes work is to go to device manager and in esata device make a re-scan of hardware.

The HDD enclosure that I am using is the Hotway ProBox HF2-SU2S2 4-Bay Enclosure ( http://www.hotway.com.tw/products/hf2-su2s2.htm ).
It has it's own external power and then I have the choice between using a USB or eSATA cable. Clearly I want to use eSATA over USB 2.0 due to the faster transfer speeds (480Mbps vs 1.5/3.0Gbps).
However, when I plug in the USB cable it all works fine, the HDD's are found and I can read and write them, no dramas. Change to the eSATA cable and nothing - which is why I thought maybe I require a driver.

One thing I have noticed is that there is an 'INTERFACE' button on the front of the enclosure, and I am wondering if this is to change it from USB to eSATA mode. However, when I press it there is nothing, I can't get it off USB mode, but I wonder if maybe you can only change it after it detects a working eSATA connection?
    From the website (link above):
    "ONE BUTTON INTERFACE SELECTION
Flexible and alternative interface selection simply by pressing
    the button."
This indicates I should be able to have both the eSATA and USB cable plugged in and switch between the two by pressing the INTERFACE button.

Step 6 of the Instruction/Installation Manual in relation to Troubleshooting says "If the device (4 HDDs installed) is connected to the PC with eSATA cable and the SATA HDD icon does not come out in 4, please check if the eSATA interface card supports Port Multiplier or update the eSATA driver version."
Anyone know if the built in eSATA Interface Card in the HDX18t-1200 supports Port Multiplier? If not are there PCMIA cards available with eSATA that I could use instead to speed things up?

I assume that eSATA is hot swappable like USB (instead of me having to turn the PC off, plug it in and then turn it on). According to Note 7 of the Installation Manual it is.

I will download and install the Chipset Drivers and see if that makes any difference.

From what I remember, the eSATA port isn't capable of Port Multiplying, But I've never tried with more than one device.

That's probably the issue then. Might have to look into a plug in eSATA card.

It says in website that it is a USB ESATA switch.

There is no driver for esata but your system is more complex and might have drivers to install. No install CD came up with it?
