After much searching, I've decided to buy either the envy 14 or 15. I like the extra gpu power of the 15 and don't need an optical drive. One of my main concerns is screen quality. I'm curious if anyone has any info or links to compare the the two laptop displays. I'm particularly interested in the viewing angles.

I've searched through the forums but can't find any good comparisons.

I've done an informal side-by-side comparison of the two screens and think they're nearly identical in terms of quality.

    Some notes:
-Both appear to have the same max brightness level.
-At stock settings, the 14's panel is easily more vibrant. Increasing the contrast ratio of the 15 by 10 to 20% seemed to fix this.
-Adjusting the brightness setting is in increments of 10% for the 14. It's a more progressive adjustment for the 15, with increments of probably closer to 5%.

Did you have a chance to compare the glossy one on the E15? The matte screen seems like a better option to me after using a glossy on my laptop for the past 5 years.

honestly, ive seen the 15 as well and am a brand new owner of a 14.

i just dont like the fact that it doesnt have an edge to edge display.

the price of the laptop cannot be justified if u look at the fact that the screen it has is not flush....it's phenomenal no doubt...but it looks cheaper compared to the 14

I'm also interested in the matte display but from what I've read on these forums the quality is not as good as the glossy (contrast, brightness).

I don't really care about the edge to edge screen, is there some benefit I'm not aware of or is completely aesthetics? If the screen quality is just as good as radiance then I'll definetly get the 15. Anyone have any comments specifically on viewing angles??

im pretty sure its completely aesthetics, and im pretty sure the screen quality is just as good on 15 vs 14.
