well, the display of my envy 17 3d 1195ea cracked accidentially, and HP told me that the repair service would be some €500+, which is probably the total value of the notebook if i sold it now with a functionable display....

i searched for displays for the envy 17 1100-series and found lots for some €100-300 (even 3d ones!), but searching for the specific hp part number the guy from hp told me - 631315-001 - only found displays for €500-800.

    so is there any difference?
has anybody already replaced the display on an envy 17 1100?

i have done it several times on my previous elitebooks, and looking at the maintenance guide i should also be able to do it on the envy.

but which display should i get?
i would definitely prefer a 120hz one, although not having used 3D at all, but its so much more convenient than 60hz..

so are there other 120hz displays compatible with the envy 17 3d 1100 series?
or just this one for €500+?

    thanks!

now i have found a website offering the exact same display that i have inside my envy!

BUT i am not sure whether to risk buying it without being sure it is compatible with the envy 17 1100 3d... im talking about the connector on the bottom and the amount of pins.

does anybody know how many pins the displays for the envy 17 1000/1100 have to have? and how long the cables/connectors have to be? beceuse i know that the exact same displays may have different cable lengths and amounts of pins...

i think the amount of pins is 40 resp. 50 for this display. now how many pins does the envy 17 3d 1000/1100 need?

and what about frames around the display when its inside the cover - any needed?

    thanks!
