I have an EVO N800C laptop that when turned on, the COMPAQ insignia comes on then after about 2 minutes the screen goes black and that is that. It sits there indefinitly and does nothing...I'm not much of a computer wizzard but I'd like somebody to point me in the right direction to solve this problem....Thanks in advance!

Unplug all external connections (USB & PS2 devices/AC plug/Battery pack)

Hold the power button for 30 seconds

Plug in the AC power and try starting up again.

If this doesnt work then i suggest you reseat the RAM.

Thank you for the help, my son had a Verizon phone plug of some sort in the USB port and the battery has been dead for a while but the new one should be here any day now. I took out the old battery and cleared the USB port and after a minute of pressing and holding the power button and pluging it in without the battery in....it worked...Thanks a million!
