Hey, I recently suffered the other day from explorer.exe crashing due to a module fault name ("CLMedia.Dll", which magically is related to Hp Quick Play Software). What i found interesting was that after receiveing the error "Explorer.exe has stopped working" when I tried to restart the process and/or reboot the laptop I would receive the same error which compeltely locked up my computer. There was no way to make it go away, and I had no access to anything - I had to use taskmanager to do anything.
After on the phone with Hp tech support, they determied that it was someting to do with Cyberlink Software (Hp Quickplay) and I tried to remove the software. With no access to explorer.exe and with the error locking up my cpu I had no success. Thus, with the random encounter to this error, i was forced to reformat using the recovery partition.
Has anybody else encountered this problem? I know its somthing do to a bad interaction between Quick Play and Vista. The error occured while I was ideling on the desktop and I can 100% guareentee it was not caused by any malcious software.
Furthermore, after this recovery my Hp ProtectSmart Harddrive protection no longer works, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling it with no success, any ideas? (reformatting again is not an option!).
