Hay all im buying the dv9000t soon and im curious about getting the optional tv tuner. The little blurb on the hp site doesnt give too much info about it and i was hoping that the real experts (you guys) could tell me more about it. im curious if it picks up cable, if you need to have a cable subscription to use it, rcn, comcast etc, and how specifically it works. Would i be able to use my cable remote with it or what im just curious if i should make the investment.

I use the ExpressCard TV Tuner with my dv8000t. I use it with my Dish network TV. I've also tried Comcast service. I do not think any remote control can be used for it though.

If you don't have any kind of TV service already, just skip passed cable and go to DirecTV. Cable will charge you twice as much for half as much content and 1/4 of the quality.

Anyway, the TV tuner comes with an IR USB breakout box that also has an IR blaster on it. So if you have DirecTV, DishNetwork, or are unfortunate enough to have digital cable, you can (quite easily) set it up so your Media Center remote that comes with the package will control your set top box. If you have basic analog cable or an antennae you can just connect the coaxial cable directly too the TV tuner and use it that way as well.
