Warning. If you order a dv4000 online, do not order the 65W ac adapter they offer you with it. It is *not* compatible. HP just found this out after assuring me it was compatible. They plan on making a change to the website when they have a chance. The dv4000 requires the 90W adapter that is not provided in the order wizard.

Looking at my new Dv4000 with x700 card, It is using a 90W power supply. HP Replacement part number = 403900-001

Right. I spoke with 4 different HP reps who told me that the 65W adapter was compatible with the dv4000. And, like I said, they actually sell the 65W adapter *with* the dv4000 if you order it online.

Anyway, they exchanged it twice for me, and now they're sending out a 90W. The final guy I spoke with apologized and asked me to go to HP's site and send an email to hpshopping.com to notify them of the problem. ummm...isn't that *his* job?

That's a pretty stupid mistake on HP's part. Most new notebooks with a 15" or higher LCD require a 90W adapter. There is a way to tell what wattage AC is required for the unit after buying the computer. Just look under the unit on the labels and it should list the required Watts & Amps, but this can only be verified after buying the unit. You should ask for a refund and a free adatper on this screw-up.
