i am trying to install half life 2 on my new lappy
when I got to disc5, the DVDR rom went REALLY loud
i thought my DVDR is broken or something but it kept on reading

after i finished installing, and inserted a cd and a dvd
no such noise can be heard

is there anything wrong with my DVDR?

That happened to me a few times.
It's the way you insert the disk, as if somehow it's a little loose and when it reads, it vibrates kind of.

Does anyone else know about this?

I do not think this is exactly a problem. Seems like most notebook optical drives are noisy. Doesnt really bother me much though. ;-)
