I noticed that after installing a fresh copy of vista, the fan starts shortly after the system boots up and login to windows (about 5 minute later).

I put the system in power saver mode also, but it is the same. The system was not behavior like this before (with hp preinstalled windows).

What can I do? Does HP have a fan control utility like dell?

There is no software that can control the fans on HP pavilions.

The fans are controlled by the BIOS....and they run all the time so your laptop doesn't overheat like the earlier models....its annoying but at least your laptop is cooler
