alright i havent found any definite awnsers to these few questions.
i'm using a DV4 1028us.
first off does any one know if we are going to be able to use any of the advanced driver settings for the video drivers? i went to nvidia, got the newest and it told me it wasnt for my system but obviously intel 4 series chipset driver is for it. so i manually installed it and then i was able to normally install and i still dont have any advanced controls. any one know whats up?
seccondly, the hard drive is doing something every 3 or 4 secconds, just a quick buzz but i can see that happening all the time to drain the battery, indexing in windows is off and there isnt any thing that takes up processor usage in the task manager when it happens any one know whats causing it and how to stop it?
also i have the power managment settings on the processor on the battery set to 5%min 35%max and it still runs at 1500Mhz and 2000Mhz why wont it run less than 1500Mhz? i have enabled everything in the bios related to the processor but it still wont go down.
there was something else but i cant remember it
aside from these minor things its been great so far. pretty quick, i can smother the bottom with a blanket and it rarely gets much past 45C

The dv4-1028us doesn't have the nVIDIA discrete graphics card. It has the Intel GMA 4500MHD integrated graphics, part of the Intel GM45 chipset. Here's the link to download the latest Intel drivers- http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/detect.htm
As for power settings- you have the 2.0GHz Intel P7350 processor. Since you have the maximum processor speed set at 35% on battery, you're expecting it not to exceed 700Mhz or so (35% of 2.0GHz)? It may be that the processor is running on a single-core rather than both. Technically, you have two 2.0GHz processor cores. I'm not certain, but that's a definite possibility. -
uhh yea intel 4 series chipset drivers are not nvidia
i;m talking about when you go to graphic properties, then go to power settings and then the modify settings tab and you have all sorts of options that for one reason or another arent available. settings that might be useful to atleast play something 3d.
as for the processor thing, it doesent make sence for it to drop to a single processor thats kind of like saying having two 2 ghz cores = 4 ghz when it doesent, and besides they both show usage when its at 35%. and you would think when you turn it to 5% max then you'd think it would have a huge performance hit but its the same resut -
any one else?
few questions.
