    hi,
    i just got a nc8000. even with the setting at low, the letters in an email as an example are too small for my old eyes. and worse yet, the screen is sort of blurry. i was going to get a 6000 series or a 8200 series and give mine to my kid. if I get a 1200x800 will the letters be any lareger and screen sharper/
    thanks for sharing your knowledge

    Dave,

    I hope these tweaks will fix the problems:

    0. Select the highest screen resolution available in Settings. This is native resolution of your LCD, ALL other resolutions will always look blurry. If that isn't good enough:

    1. Right Click your desktop screen ->Properties->Appearance->Effects->
    "Use the follwoing methods to smooth edges of screen fonts", select "STANDARD", or unselect at all. Do not use "Clear type"

    2. Also, in effects, unselect "Use the following transitions...." That will speed up your computer.

    3. Next,in the same ->Properties->Appearance, find "Font size", select "Extra large" or "large".

    4. Next, ->Appearance->Advanced->Item->"Icon"->Font
    select Arial and increase size above 12 pt to something. And make it Bold (press B).

    5. Next, ->Appearance->Advanced->Item->"Menu", do similar things with Font here as well.

    6. Use MOzilla or Firefox for interenet. You can make fonts on webpages very large by pressing "Ctrl and +" several time (use "Ctrl and -" to decrease back; wouldn't work with IExplorer.

    7. Many applications will allow you to increase their interface size. E.g. in Ms Word you can go to Tools->Customize->Check "Large Icons". etc.

    In IExpl, the biggest size will often look WAY too small on SXGA or UXGA screen. Mozilla gives anything from giganic to microscopic fonts that I couldn't even approach in IExpl 6.0 (my current version). Will be grateful to learn how to use the "TOOLS->TEXT SIZES"...

    BTW, you can tweak the crome file in Mozilla and make the large font to be default at startup; plus you can make all menu fonts LARGE. Can one do that in IExpl?

    if you like internet explorer you can change font size by holding control while moving the scroll on your mouse up or down. mozilla is also a good choice.
