I was curious what kind of ram is it using and are both slots available to upgrade,The costco site said it was upgradeable to 2gb's was curious if it was like some compaq where only one ram slot is accessible
-
The other ram slot is under the keyboard. There's a zv6000 service manual floating around the HP website, I've read parts it looks fairly easy to access if you're careful.

Yes, I checked out upgrading the ram and only one slot is easily accessible. I haven't even looked for the other, but the manual says it's only to be accessed by a professional. I'll find some way to get in there, though.

Wonder of wonders. The Maintenance and Service Guide is listed under zv6000 manuals:
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c00364919.pdf
It covers the R4000 too. The instructions are more detailed than they were for the zv5000. You should definitely read them before taking apart your zv6000/R4000 series machine. -

That's different than the zv5000/R3000 series, which I suspect is similar to the zv6000/R4000. On my zv5000z I had to remove the four screws along the bottom back edge, which allows you to remove the bezel above the keyboard (which still requires quite a bit of force), which exposes the four screws securing the keyboard in place. Unplug from the wall and remove the battery before doing anything of course.

As I haven't ben able to create a new thread, I appologise, but I am going to make my question here. I've got a ZV 6000 3200+ Athlon64. It was supposed to have a 2GHz processing speed, but at the general properties of "My Computer" it accuses sometimes 498MHz, sometimes 997Mhz, but never the expected 2GHz. Does someone knows why is it that way? Will it only process at 2GHz w/ 64bit system and drivers on then it'll do it at 4Ghz?

It's a bug in Windows causing the speed to display improperly. That bug has been patched, either by one of the Windows updates or by a newer revision of the AMD processor driver. You can use CPU-Z or some other program to read your real CPU speed. Do remember that your CPU will switch between 800MHz when relatively idle and full speed as needed.

As mentioned the zv6000 has one slot that is under the keyboard. I have heard that it can void your warranty if you try to access it but I know many people have done it and it is supposed to be fairly easy. Go to www.notebookanalysis.com to get further information on this. This is a website devoted solely to the zv6000 and its twin the Compaq R4000. Good luck!
