My Compaq R3000 series laptop died on me 3 times within the same year, but still under warranty THANK GOD. It seems like the motherboard wasnt very good. It would not turn on when I hit the button, the power indicator would blink and turn off. Did anyone else have the same problem?? Should I still give the R4000 a try?? Right now Im thinking of selling the 3000 (warranty is ending) and replacing with the 4000. Does anyone have any bad experience with either of the 3000 and 4000? I would like to say that the 3 times I had to sent it in I was quite satisfied with their support. This is in Canada btw

You probably just got a bad unit, that happens from time to time. If you want a 15.4" though, you might consider the Toshiba M40, it's a nice option in Canada.

Still, the R4000 or ZV6000 are very good notebooks for the money, and my experience with customer service has been excellent so far...

I would just suggest checking with hpshopping.com (available in Canada?) and double check the pricing, if you can. You can configure your own laptop (i.e. upgrade to a 5400 rpm hard drive for some additional performance) and you usually get the notebook at or before the estimated date given by HP. Good luck!
