well, i finally bit the bullet and received my nc8430 from amuras today. I applaud them for very good customer service. So far the laptop is great. The screen is very crisp, but my eyes are a little sore from the incredibly high resolution... will have to get used to it. Unfortunetly there is 1 stuck blue pixel on the far right. Barely noticeable. The screen seems bright enough for me, maybe only a hair darker than my desktop lcd.
oh and this puppy does run warm.
I do have one question, how do i tell if my ram is 1 or 2 chips without physically opening up the bay?

I believe CPU Z would tell you which slots are used.

Q: how do i tell if my ram is 1 or 2 chips without physically opening up the bay?
A: download CPU-Z ... http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php -
Congrats, I also bit the bullet a couple of weeks back and purchased one from Amuras and glad that I did. It was such sweet deal and the notebook is awesome.
I can't believe I was ever considering getting a screen with 1280x800 resolution, the 1680x1050 resolution is amazing, World of Warcraft has never looked better for me. I have all the settings on high and native resolution and it runs it at 30 fps outdoors and 50-60 indoors, I was floored at how good the game looked, the x1600 video card is a beast (for a 15.4" lappy, that is).
Now I just hope I have one stick of RAM in there so I can slap another gig and let this baby fly. I love this laptop.
Does anyone know what program I can use to monitor temperatures (other than NHC) and what are good temperatures to be at? Thanks. -
just an FYI, i popped open the ram slot and there is a free DIMM!!! so its an easy upgrade to 2GB. The laptop is just such a great deal for the price. I'm very happy so far. Can't wait to play some DOD source tonight.

How about posting a link to this "good deal" + quote the price.
I'm sure someone would apperciate it...
Second thing,
What were the id strings (mfg), and timmings on the ram? -
Sorry about that, here you go, buddy.

Follow the advice on that thread. Download the video, and use it along with the "rub it out" method. I had the same exact stuck blue pixel (also nc8430) on the bottom left and got it out using this method. Good luck! -
Good program thanks -
i tried running the video overnight, but when i woke up my computer had reset. not sure why that would happen. Any ideas?
